Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you to disable Security software and hide updates.

Windows Update won't include the option of hiding updates, but Microsoft does have a well-hidden troubleshooter package, Refer the article : KB3073930 , which allows you to hide or block Windows Updates and, crucially, driver updates.

Hope this information helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of the issue so that we can assist you further.

Thank you

Rakesh,

This is totally opposite of my situation, plus it has nothing to do with Windows Updates.

I am trying to INSTALL a new driver for Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST).  Windows 10 will not let me proceed with the install because it gives me the message:  "There Is A Pending Reboot For This Product"  and will not let me procede any further with the install.

Someplace, Windows is keeping track that I might have had a failed install that ended prior to a reboot and it's still waiting for the reboot before it will let me try to install it again.  Manual reboots of the computer do NOT solve this problem.

I need a tool similar to Install Manager that can find the key that is forcing Windows 10 to think there is a reboot required and get rid of it.

I most likely wasn't very clear in my initial question.  Thank for you reply though.

Len Silver

I'm having this same problem!  I'm trying to update my Management Engine as well with the same problem popping up.  Windows also tells me my driver is up to date, but I can see by the version number that it is not.

Trying to install a driver update for Intel Rapid Storage Technology so it will work with Windows 10 but I continue to get the "There is a Pending Reboot for this Product" message.  After many reboots, still getting the message.

How do I get this cleared out so I can do the install?

Hi  LELennySilver,

After a lot of frustrating time wasted on Google, I thought about using Sysinternal's Process Monitor. It is a handy tool for spying on various things a process does under the hood, and one of these things is which registry keys it tries to access.

Using this tool, I discovered that the IRST installer was accessing the following key:

                HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Intel\Setup$

All I had to do to solve the problem was delete this key, and I was on my way.

Hope, this will work for u.... :) :) :)

I'm having the very same issue in Win10.  Deleting the key as mentioned in this thread or changing it doesn't help.  If I do anything to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Intel\Setup$ , I end up getting an incompatible product error.  Putting it back the way it was returns me to the pending reboot error.  How can I get this updated driver installed?

My registry path was very close. I found:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\Setup$

I removed this key and then my particular intel driver install started working.

Thanks!
